Meet Dr. Jenna
Jenna is the newest member of the optometric team at Highline.
Enthusiastic, smart and driven, Dr. Jenna Steffen has a passion for improving the quality of her patients’ lives.
She was born and grew up in Winfield, Kansas with her Mom, Dad and sister. Jenna eventually found her way to the University of Kansas where she studied Organismal Biology. It was during her first year at KU that she thought becoming an optometrist might be something she would enjoy. To take a closer look at what it meant to work in eye care, she took a position at a private practice where she worked in almost every department continuing to work there throughout her time at KU. She was hooked! Jenna went on to receive her doctor of optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. With a strategic eye on her future, she completed an institutional externship at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. This experience working with children provided an excellent foundation for focusing on care for kids as well as helping her become comfortable treating pediatric disease. Volunteer work through Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity allowed her to travel to Honduras and Columbia where her team provided comprehensive eye and vision exams to community members, providing those in need with glasses, prescriptions and referrals as necessary. She loves working in a community where she can see her patients out and about town and get to know them better. Having visited her aunt in Colorado as a child, Jenna is looking forward to enjoying swimming, hiking, camping and the mountains once again.
